Sandra Skodnik

I create functioning pieces of art and sculptural forms in timber from my backyard studio in Redcliffe QLD. Recently I have taken the next step and transform my more special pieces into limited edition bronze sculptures.

I have been creative for as long as I can remember, after high school I attended Qld. College of Art and completed a certificate in Applied Arts and a diploma in Graphic Arts. Worked in the Graphic Art industry until I decided I needed to get back to hands on art.

My creative process begins by searching for sustainably harvested, recycled and unusual pieces of timber before designing and sculpting.

I have a connection with each piece of timber if find, instantly visualising an image, a story to be carved.

I enhance the history of the timber through traditional hand carving and rotary power tools.

Through my creations I aim to raise awareness and educate the public about the importance of our endangered wildlife, fauna species, Aust. history and important subject in and around our communities.
