Description
This painting is about the connection that Quandamooka people have with Minjerribah (Nth Stradroke Island). Many Quandamooka people now reside on the mainland due to work, housing, schooling etc . We always look to come home. Quandamooka country is a part of us whever we go or live. This being taught to us from a young age. My Grandparents made the decision to relocate from tbe island to the mainland so their children could get a high school education and learn trades. This decision paid off and had a positive impact on the family. Even though we live away from the island we are taught where we come from, our stories, to know our extended families and Elders, traditions, old ways and cultural protocols. These teachings and traditions continue on today will continue on with the future generations to come.
