Lyne Tilt is an emerging Brisbane based artist specialising in polymer clay, metal and stone artisan jewellery and abstract and stylised paintings. LyneArt Designs is the culmination of her inspirations and aspirations from life and nature.
LyneArt Designs began with humble beginnings in 1994 after Lyne’s studies in Fine Art (1991 – 1993) in Toowoomba at the University of Southern Queensland. Following her studies Lyne completed a hairdressing apprenticeship and became a specialist in long hair styling, hair sculpting and colour work. During this time she collaborated across multiple fashion and artistic endeavours ranging from fashion photography with Intercoiffure and Ian Golding, guest artist and stagework with Goldwell and theatre productions with the Toowoomba Choral Society working on productions such as Les Miserables.
In 1999 Lyne’s first daughter was born, inspiring a return to formal academic studies in 2000 where Lyne completed both a Bachelor of Secondary Education and an Honours degree. Over the next 14 years LyneArt Designs remained a background part of life while Lyne raised two daughters, taught part time at Griffith University in ethics and classroom pedagogy and full time as an Art and English teacher across a number of schools in both Brisbane and South East Queensland.
It wasn’t until 2013 that LyneArt Designs found their way into a formal gallery setting at ‘The Manly Gallery’, Queensland, where both her jewellery and paintings remained until the gallery’s closure in 2018. Over the past 5 years LyneArt Designs has evolved as Lyne trained with a variety of specialists in metal foldforming (Charles Lewton-Brain), silversmithing (Dan Cox) and polymer clay (Tory Hughes) and built her home based studio.
