Bags at Manly Harbour Gallery

I have always been interested in art and its use on fabrics and other surfaces.  Having retired from a career as a teacher, I now have the time and opportunity to use my imagination and my passion for bright colours to create original mixed-media art works.

In my life I have attended a variety of art courses and workshops covering printmaking, painting, drawing and collage and more. This has led me to develop a unique style combining all of those elements into mixed-media images.

Mixed media art has so many possibilities and no boundaries. My knowledge, understanding and creativity is continuously evolving.

I enjoy working with many different materials and formats including but not limited to: drawing, painting, printmaking and collage. I love experimenting with layers of colour, texture and collage to assemble original images.

I find the transparency of colourful layers of pattern, text and paint intriguing. I collect materials like a bowerbird, finding creative uses for little torn bits of papers while adding colours, patterns and images to make a whole.

Inspirational artists I admire include Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, Frida Kahlo and Gianni Versace.

My art credentials include a Diploma of Fine Art in Fashion & Design and other studies including Certificates in Printmaking, Art and Design and Millinery.

I am currently part of a mixed-media art group with the Yurara Art Society with Gloria Clay as teacher and inspiration.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy making it!
